Resetting Student Passwords - follow this tutorial to reset student passwords. NOTE: all secondary academy staff temporarily have access to do this.

Welcome to the Outwood G Suite Training Centre. You will find short "lessons" with how-to videos that help get to grips with the different G Suite apps. More videos are being added, so check back soon!


1. Getting started with Gmail

This sequence of tutorials gives you the basics of how to get up and running with gmail. It is particularly useful for those who have switched from Outlook to Gmail.

They include:

  • How to prioritise your inbox
  • How to disable/enable conversation view
  • How to enable/disable the preview pane
  • Replacing folders with labels.
  • Using scheduled send
  • Using gmail search

The combined time for all these tutorials is only 6 minutes, and they will save you a lot more time in the future!

2. Getting started with Drive

This sequence of tutorials gives you the basics of how to get up and running with google drive. It will also discuss some best practice ways of working

They include:

  • How to upload files and folders
  • How to convert Microsoft Office documents to Google Docs and why you might do this
  • How to use File Stream to make your Google Drive appear like a USB stick
  • How to share files correctly and effectively
  • How to get the most out of "Shared with Me"
  • How to use Drive Search to find files
  • How to use Shared Drives effectively

All tutorials are 3 minutes or less in length and you can skip to the most relevant tutorials for you. This best practice will save you a lot of time in the future!

3. Getting started with Calendar

This sequence of tutorials gives you the basics of how to get up and running with Google calendar. It is particularly useful for those who have switched from Outlook to Google calendar.

They include:

  • Creating an event, including checking people and room availability
  • Accepting a meeting invite
  • Creating recurring events
  • Viewing bookable room calendars
  • Changing your calendar visibility
  • Creating additional calendars
  • Sharing your calendar access

The combined time for all these tutorials is only 15 minutes, and they will save you a lot more time in the future! You do not have to watch them all if you think they may not be relevant you can just skip to the ones that you think are relevant to you.

4. Getting started with Classroom

This sequence of tutorials gives you the basics of how to get up and running with Google classroom.

They include:

  • How to create a classroom
  • How to invite students using Praising Stars
  • How to ask short answer and multiple choice questions
  • How to post resources for students to view
  • How to create assignments for students to complete
  • How to reuse posts from other classrooms

The combined time for all these tutorials is only 16 minutes.

5. Getting started with Forms

This sequence of tutorials gives you the basics of how to get up and running with Google forms

They include:

  • How to create a form and the types of questions
  • How to add links to documents and videos so help with completion of a form / quiz
  • How to turn a form into a quiz
  • How to make the quiz mark answers and assign marks
  • How to pre-populate feedback on whether an answer is correct or incorrect

The combined time for all these tutorials is only 13 minutes.

6. Getting started with Meet
